Groundwater & Basement Water Intrusion in West Haven, CT
Basement seepage, failed sumps and water through the slab are extracted and dried, and the path from the ground is found so the floor stays dry next season. The path from the ground is named first: through the wall, up through the slab, back through a drain, or from a sump that stopped. The space is extracted and dried, with the porous materials the water touched removed, and the delivery is addressed, because a dried floor only stays dry if the water stops arriving.

Often needed alongside
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
- Emergency Water Extraction
Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
Frequently asked questions
Can a tile floor like this be dried without lifting it?
Very rarely. The tile is set in a thick mortar bed that absorbs a great deal and releases it slowly from one face, and the timber underneath has no air at all. Drying the room above a bed like that reaches the surface and nothing else, so the readings stall a long way from where they need to be.
What is involved in taking it out?
Breaking out rather than lifting. The bed is a solid layer several times the thickness of the tile, bonded to nothing and resting on the structure, so it comes out in pieces and the weight of it is considerable. It is the slowest part of the job and it happens before the drying can properly start.
How is the floor structure underneath assessed?
Once it is exposed, directly, with pins into the subfloor and the joists. Until the bed is off there is no meaningful reading to take, because a meter on the tile reports the bed. That is why nothing about the extent is settled early on a floor like this; it is known only after the removal.
