Groundwater & Basement Water Intrusion in Essex Junction, VT

Basement seepage, failed sumps and water through the slab are extracted and dried, and the path from the ground is found so the floor stays dry next season. The path from the ground is named first: through the wall, up through the slab, back through a drain, or from a sump that stopped. The space is extracted and dried, with the porous materials the water touched removed, and the delivery is addressed, because a dried floor only stays dry if the water stops arriving.

Often needed alongside

  • Structural Drying & Dehumidification

Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.

  • Emergency Water Extraction

Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.

  • Mold Inspection & Testing

An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.

Frequently asked questions

Why fit guards to a roof that sheds snow?

Because a metal roof releasing its load at once is dangerous to whatever is beneath it, including people at a door and cars on a drive. The guards hold the snow in place so it melts away gradually instead. It is the right decision for safety and it changes how the roof behaves in winter.

What does holding the snow do?

It keeps a wet mass on the roof for months. Water melting at the warm underside runs down under the snow toward the eaves, where it is colder, and freezes there. That is the same process that produces ice dams on a shingle roof, on a roof type people assume does not get them.

Are the fixings a problem?

They can be. Guards clamped to the seams of a standing-seam roof put no holes in it at all; guards screwed through the panels put a row of penetrations across the slope, each sealed with a washer that ages. On an older installation those are worth looking at when anything else is being done to the roof.
