Structural Drying & Dehumidification in Dunkirk, NY
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material. The wet area is sealed, air movers and dehumidifiers run as one system, and the material is read at marked points every day against a dry standard from an unaffected room. The equipment leaves on the readings rather than on a date, and the final readings are logged so the rebuild starts on a documented dry structure.
No obligation: the assessment comes before any scope
Often needed alongside
- Emergency Water Extraction
Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
Frequently asked questions
How does an awning put water into the wall?
Through the fixings that hold it up. Each one is a screw or a lag driven through the siding into the framing above the window, and whatever sealed those has long since gone. Water running down the wall finds the holes, and an awning that is holding snow keeps a wet band in exactly that place for months.
Where does the damage show up?
Under the window rather than over it. Water entering at the fixings runs down inside the wall cavity and collects at the first horizontal it meets, which is usually the window's own framing. Staining on the wall below the sill and soft trim at the corners are the usual first signs.
Is taking the awnings off the answer?
Sometimes, but only with the holes dealt with. Removing an awning leaves a row of penetrations in the siding that will keep passing water if they are simply left. The fixings come out, the holes are sealed, and if the awning goes back it is worth putting it back on new flashing rather than on sealant.
