Structural Drying & Dehumidification in Durham, NC
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material. The wet area is sealed, air movers and dehumidifiers run as one system, and the material is read at marked points every day against a dry standard from an unaffected room. The equipment leaves on the readings rather than on a date, and the final readings are logged so the rebuild starts on a documented dry structure.

Often needed alongside
- Emergency Water Extraction
Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
Frequently asked questions
Does brick veneer hold water at the bottom of the wall?
It can, at the base course where the veneer meets the foundation. Brick absorbs and the cavity behind it drains to weep holes, so if those are blocked the water sits against the sheathing instead of leaving. After an interior loss the wall base is read from inside, and if the readings stay high once the room is dry the outside is looked at before the wall closes.
Why is the crawl space damp before the loss even happened?
Because ventilated crawl spaces here draw in warm, moist air through most of the year, and that air condenses on cooler surfaces underneath. By September the space has been humid for months. A loss on top of that starts from a worse position, which is why the drying plan treats the whole space rather than just the wet spot.
What happens to wet underfloor insulation?
It comes out. Batt insulation between floor joists holds water against the subfloor, loses its shape once saturated and sags away from the framing, and it will not dry in place in a closed crawl space. It is removed so the joists and subfloor can be read directly and dried, then new insulation goes in once those readings hold.
