Groundwater & Basement Water Intrusion in Bristol, CT
Basement seepage, failed sumps and water through the slab are extracted and dried, and the path from the ground is found so the floor stays dry next season. The path from the ground is named first: through the wall, up through the slab, back through a drain, or from a sump that stopped. The space is extracted and dried, with the porous materials the water touched removed, and the delivery is addressed, because a dried floor only stays dry if the water stops arriving.
No obligation: the assessment comes before any scope
Often needed alongside
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
- Emergency Water Extraction
Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
Frequently asked questions
What is trap rock?
Hard volcanic rock, forming the ridges that run through this part of the state. It is dense and essentially impermeable to water, and in these neighborhoods it lies under a thin covering of soil rather than deep down beneath the surface.
Why does the ground flood so quickly?
Because there is so little of it. A foot or two of soil over rock holds very little water, so an autumn storm fills the profile within the first hour and everything after that runs across the surface, arriving at buildings in quantity.
Does a soakaway work here?
Almost never, and it is worth establishing that before paying for one. A pit dug into thin soil over trap rock has nothing to discharge into, so it fills and stays full. Drainage has to be piped to an outlet rather than put into the ground.
