Groundwater & Basement Water Intrusion in Fairbanks, AK
Basement seepage, failed sumps and water through the slab are extracted and dried, and the path from the ground is found so the floor stays dry next season. The path from the ground is named first: through the wall, up through the slab, back through a drain, or from a sump that stopped. The space is extracted and dried, with the porous materials the water touched removed, and the delivery is addressed, because a dried floor only stays dry if the water stops arriving.
No obligation: the assessment comes before any scope
Often needed alongside
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
- Emergency Water Extraction
Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
Frequently asked questions
What does permafrost do under a heated house?
It thaws. The building keeps the ground beneath it above freezing, and where that ground contains ice, the ice melts and the soil collapses into the space it occupied. The house settles into the hollow it has made, and it keeps doing so.
Does that produce water inside?
It can, and it catches people out. The ice melting under a building has to go somewhere, so a crawl space or a lower floor can take on water with nothing having leaked and no rain having fallen. The source is the ground itself giving up what it held.
What is done differently when building on it?
The building is kept from warming the ground, which is the whole approach here. Raising a house on piles with open air beneath, or using insulated pads and ventilated foundations, keeps the frozen ground frozen. Where that was skipped, the settlement follows.
