Storm & Flood Damage Recovery in Tacoma, WA

The opening is closed, the water is extracted, materials floodwater touched come out, and the structure is dried and rebuilt in that order. The opening is closed first, with tarps or board-up, so the building stops taking on water. Floodwater is extracted, and the porous materials it touched come out rather than dry, since it crossed ground outside. The structure is dried and re-read, and the rebuild waits until the readings and the roof both allow it.

Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.

  • Structural Drying & Dehumidification

Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.

  • Sewage & Contaminated Water Cleanup

Sewage and black-water losses are contained, the materials the water touched are removed and disposed of, hard surfaces are disinfected, and the space is dried to a reading.

Frequently asked questions

The uphill wall will not come down to the others. Is something still leaking?

Usually not from inside. Dense glacial till holds water and moves it slowly downhill, so the wall with ground against it has a supply from outside that has nothing to do with the original loss. It is read separately and held to a stable trend rather than to the number the other walls reach.

What comes off the wall before drying starts?

Anything fastened to it. Framing, board, insulation and any finish trap moisture against the concrete and make it impossible to read or to move air across. They come off along the wet run, the concrete is exposed, and what goes back afterwards is decided once the wall's behavior through a full wet season is understood.

Is there a better time of year for this kind of job?

Summer, by a wide margin. From July to September the ground dries out, the perched water drops away and the wall finally releases. The same basement worked in January is fighting a charged hillside. Where the work can wait, it is worth scheduling the permanent side of it for the dry months.
