Contained removal
Mold Removal & Remediation in Lynchburg, VA
Growth and the material it grew into come out under containment, what remains is cleaned, and the assembly is dried and read before anything closes it in. The area is sealed and put under negative air, affected porous material comes out, and what remains is cleaned and treated. The assembly is then dried and read to the same standard as any water loss before it is closed, because remediation over a still-wet assembly puts the same growth back behind new drywall.

Remediation here is the tail of a water job: growth is what an unfinished drying leaves behind, and removing it without finishing the drying puts it back. The contractor establishes how far the growth extends and what moisture is still feeding it, removes what grew, and dries and reads the assembly before it is closed. The service note below covers the sequence in this city.
Often needed alongside
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the service mast leak?
Because it is a rigid pipe through a roof that moves, with a rubber or lead boot around it. The mast is pulled sideways by the weight of the overhead cable, the boot hardens, and the gap opens. It is one of the most common roof penetrations to fail and one of the least often inspected.
Where does water on the mast end up?
Down the outside of the pipe into the roof space, and then along whatever it lands on. Because the mast continues down inside to the panel, staining sometimes appears near electrical equipment, which is a good reason to treat it as urgent rather than as an ordinary roof leak.
Who repairs a leaking service mast?
A roofer for the flashing, but the utility and an electrician are involved if the mast itself has to move. That is worth knowing before the work is scheduled, because a boot cannot be replaced properly with the mast in the way, and the service usually has to be disconnected for a few hours.
