Storm & Flood Damage Recovery in Houston, TX

The opening is closed, the water is extracted, materials floodwater touched come out, and the structure is dried and rebuilt in that order. The opening is closed first, with tarps or board-up, so the building stops taking on water. Floodwater is extracted, and the porous materials it touched come out rather than dry, since it crossed ground outside. The structure is dried and re-read, and the rebuild waits until the readings and the roof both allow it.

Often needed alongside

  • Emergency Water Extraction

Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.

  • Structural Drying & Dehumidification

Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.

  • Sewage & Contaminated Water Cleanup

Sewage and black-water losses are contained, the materials the water touched are removed and disposed of, hard surfaces are disinfected, and the space is dried to a reading.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a wet slab floor take to dry here in the summer?

Usually a week or more, and the equipment rental estimate is not the number to plan around. Summer air here is already close to saturated, so dehumidifiers carry the whole load and a slab gives its moisture up slowly. The contractor sizes the equipment to the season and reads the slab daily until it reaches the dry standard, then the floor goes back.

Can drywall that got wet at the bottom be dried in place?

Rarely, in this climate. Water wicks up paper-faced drywall from the floor and softens it from behind, and a day of standing water in this heat usually pushes it past drying in place. The contractor cuts at a standard height so the replacement sheet fits, dries the framing behind it to a reading, and closes it only then.

The house was aired out with the windows open. Is that a problem now?

Usually, yes. Open windows in a Houston summer bring in air that already holds as much water as it can, so the drying stalled and the cavities may still be wet under surfaces that feel fine. An inspection reads the material, confirms whether growth started in the meantime, and sets out what has to be reopened before the walls close for good.
