Structural Drying & Dehumidification in Beaufort, SC
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material. The wet area is sealed, air movers and dehumidifiers run as one system, and the material is read at marked points every day against a dry standard from an unaffected room. The equipment leaves on the readings rather than on a date, and the final readings are logged so the rebuild starts on a documented dry structure.

- Mold Inspection & Testing

Frequently asked questions
What exactly is tabby made of?
A concrete made by burning oyster shell for lime and mixing it back together with whole shell, sand and water. It was the local building material here long before cement arrived, and a good deal of it is still carrying buildings today.
Why is a cement repair a problem?
Because it is harder and less permeable than the tabby around it. Water that would have moved through the wall and evaporated is held behind the patch instead, so it concentrates at the edges and the original material fails there.
How should tabby be dried?
Gently and from both faces, with anything impermeable taken off it first. It holds a great deal of water and gives it back slowly, so the work is measured in weeks, and forcing it with heat does more harm than leaving it alone would.
