Contained removal
Mold Removal & Remediation in Easton, PA
Growth and the material it grew into come out under containment, what remains is cleaned, and the assembly is dried and read before anything closes it in. The area is sealed and put under negative air, affected porous material comes out, and what remains is cleaned and treated. The assembly is then dried and read to the same standard as any water loss before it is closed, because remediation over a still-wet assembly puts the same growth back behind new drywall.
Independent local pros · containment before removal
Remediation here is the tail of a water job: growth is what an unfinished drying leaves behind, and removing it without finishing the drying puts it back. The contractor establishes how far the growth extends and what moisture is still feeding it, removes what grew, and dries and reads the assembly before it is closed. The service note below covers the sequence in this city.
Often needed alongside
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
Frequently asked questions
Can the hardwood be saved or does it come up?
It is often saved, but only if the drying starts on the first day. Strip flooring cups as it takes water and flattens again as it gives it back, so the aim is to pull moisture through the boards before the cupping sets. Once a floor has stayed cupped for a week it is generally sanded or replaced rather than dried.
What is a drying mat and why is it used on these floors?
It seals to the surface and pulls air through the boards and the gap below them, which is the only way to reach the space between the finish floor and the planks. Left to dry into the room, the top face closes up first and locks the water underneath it in the joint, where it will sit for months.
Why is the cellar ceiling wet when the spill was upstairs?
Because the subfloor is planks with open joints rather than a continuous sheet. Water that passes the finish floor runs along the boards and drops through the first gap it finds, which can be several feet from where it landed. The wet patch below is a poor guide to what got wet above.
