Groundwater & Basement Water Intrusion in Mentor, OH
Basement seepage, failed sumps and water through the slab are extracted and dried, and the path from the ground is found so the floor stays dry next season. The path from the ground is named first: through the wall, up through the slab, back through a drain, or from a sump that stopped. The space is extracted and dried, with the porous materials the water touched removed, and the delivery is addressed, because a dried floor only stays dry if the water stops arriving.

Often needed alongside
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
- Emergency Water Extraction
Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the ground behind the spit sit low?
Because the spit was built up by the lake and the ground behind it was not. Sand piles along the shore and the flat behind stays where it was, so the beach ridge in front is higher than the neighborhood behind it.
Where does the drainage actually go?
Around rather than through. Water cannot run straight out to the lake across a ridge that is higher than the ground it is on, so the system takes it sideways to wherever the ridge is broken, which is a long and vulnerable route.
What does a high lake do to that?
Backs it up. The outlet is at lake level, so when the lake is high the district's drainage has nowhere to discharge, and the low ground behind the ridge fills from its own rainfall with the lake never coming over the beach at all.
