Storm & Flood Damage Recovery in Paterson, NJ
The opening is closed, the water is extracted, materials floodwater touched come out, and the structure is dried and rebuilt in that order. The opening is closed first, with tarps or board-up, so the building stops taking on water. Floodwater is extracted, and the porous materials it touched come out rather than dry, since it crossed ground outside. The structure is dried and re-read, and the rebuild waits until the readings and the roof both allow it.

Often needed alongside
- Emergency Water Extraction
Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
- Sewage & Contaminated Water Cleanup
Sewage and black-water losses are contained, the materials the water touched are removed and disposed of, hard surfaces are disinfected, and the space is dried to a reading.
Frequently asked questions
How far does water travel on an open mill floor?
Much further than in a partitioned building, because there is nothing to stop it. A large open plate lets water run to the low corner and under whatever covering is down, so the wet area is frequently the whole floor rather than a room. It is mapped with a meter across the entire plate before anything is lifted.
Do the timber beams have to be replaced?
Very rarely. Heavy timber takes water slowly and releases it slowly, and it has far more material than modern framing, so it usually survives well. What it does do is read wet long after the finishes around it are done. The meter goes into the timber and the equipment stays until those numbers stop moving.
Can a thick plank floor be dried in place?
Often, if both faces can be reached. Plank floors give up water from the top and the underside, so opening the ceiling below lets air work on the back of the assembly and roughly halves the time. Where the ceiling below cannot be opened, the drying runs from one side only and takes considerably longer.
