Structural Drying & Dehumidification in Northfield, NJ
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material. The wet area is sealed, air movers and dehumidifiers run as one system, and the material is read at marked points every day against a dry standard from an unaffected room. The equipment leaves on the readings rather than on a date, and the final readings are logged so the rebuild starts on a documented dry structure.

Often needed alongside
- Emergency Water Extraction
Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
Frequently asked questions
What does the cap do?
It is the roof of the chase. The enclosure is a hollow framed box with the flue running up inside it, and the cap is the single piece keeping the weather out of that box. Everything below it, framing included, depends on one sheet of metal with a seam and a collar around the flue.
Why does it corrode from underneath?
Because that face never dries. Warm air and condensation collect on the inside of the cap and sit there, while the top face sheds and dries between storms. By the time rust shows on the visible side, the underside is usually well gone, which is why caps fail without warning.
What does water in the chase reach?
The framing inside it, and then the ceiling or wall where the chase passes through the house. A leak here does not drip into a room; it runs down inside an enclosure through the building. Staining on a ceiling next to a fireplace is frequently a chase cap rather than anything to do with the flue.
