Storm & Flood Damage Recovery in Bismarck, ND

The opening is closed, the water is extracted, materials floodwater touched come out, and the structure is dried and rebuilt in that order. The opening is closed first, with tarps or board-up, so the building stops taking on water. Floodwater is extracted, and the porous materials it touched come out rather than dry, since it crossed ground outside. The structure is dried and re-read, and the rebuild waits until the readings and the roof both allow it.

Often needed alongside

  • Emergency Water Extraction

Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.

  • Structural Drying & Dehumidification

Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.

  • Sewage & Contaminated Water Cleanup

Sewage and black-water losses are contained, the materials the water touched are removed and disposed of, hard surfaces are disinfected, and the space is dried to a reading.

Frequently asked questions

Is the moisture in this wall from the loss or from the winter?

Usually some of both, and separating them is the first task. In a climate this cold, moisture from inside the house reaches the cold part of a cavity and condenses there every winter, so an assembly carries a seasonal load of its own. An unaffected bay is opened and read to establish what that is.

What is the drying target then?

The building rather than a number. A figure taken from general guidance would be below anything these walls reach in February, so it would keep a job open indefinitely. The comparison is made against unaffected framing in the same house at the same time, and the affected area is brought back to that.

Why does it show up at the bottom of the wall?

Because that is where it collects. Condensation forms on the cold face of the cavity and runs down the inside of the sheathing to the plate, which is the lowest point in the bay, so the first mark in the room is at the baseboard. It looks like a leak and is often mistaken for one.
