Groundwater & Basement Water Intrusion in Asheville, NC

Basement seepage, failed sumps and water through the slab are extracted and dried, and the path from the ground is found so the floor stays dry next season. The path from the ground is named first: through the wall, up through the slab, back through a drain, or from a sump that stopped. The space is extracted and dried, with the porous materials the water touched removed, and the delivery is addressed, because a dried floor only stays dry if the water stops arriving.

Often needed alongside

  • Structural Drying & Dehumidification

Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.

  • Emergency Water Extraction

Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.

  • Mold Inspection & Testing

An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there housing on the floodplain at all?

Because it was industrial ground first. Flat land beside a river was ideal for warehouses, and when that use ended the buildings were converted. The location made sense for the original purpose and carries a different risk for the current one.

Does the original construction help?

In some ways it does. Masonry walls, concrete floors and high ceilings tolerate water far better than a timber-framed house would, and a well-planned conversion keeps services high. A poorly planned one puts a finished floor at ground level. The building's original use is a reasonable guide to how much punishment its structure can take.

What separates a good conversion from a bad one?

Where the mechanical plant and the electrical sit, more than anything visible. A building whose systems are above the expected level can be washed out and put back into use; one with everything at floor level cannot. Asking where the panel and the plant sit tells you more than any amount of looking at finishes.
