Groundwater & Basement Water Intrusion in Moorhead, MN

Basement seepage, failed sumps and water through the slab are extracted and dried, and the path from the ground is found so the floor stays dry next season. The path from the ground is named first: through the wall, up through the slab, back through a drain, or from a sump that stopped. The space is extracted and dried, with the porous materials the water touched removed, and the delivery is addressed, because a dried floor only stays dry if the water stops arriving.

Often needed alongside

  • Structural Drying & Dehumidification

Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.

  • Emergency Water Extraction

Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.

  • Mold Inspection & Testing

An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the floor crack in the same place every winter?

Because the ground under it is lifting. Frost drives deep into wet valley soil and the ice that forms pushes the slab up, then lets it down again in the spring, so the floor moves through an annual cycle. Cracks open at the same points each time because that is where the movement concentrates.

Does that let water in?

It does, and the timing is what gives it away. A joint that is closed in summer opens as the frost lifts the slab, so water has a route in during exactly the months the ground is fullest. A basement that is dry all summer and wet every February is describing the cycle rather than a leak.

Can the drying be signed off in winter?

It can, but with the movement understood rather than ignored. The slab will settle again in the spring and whatever opened will close, so a repair made to a joint in February may not match what is there in June. That is raised at the time rather than discovered later.
