Storm & Flood Damage Recovery in Richmond, IN

The opening is closed, the water is extracted, materials floodwater touched come out, and the structure is dried and rebuilt in that order. The opening is closed first, with tarps or board-up, so the building stops taking on water. Floodwater is extracted, and the porous materials it touched come out rather than dry, since it crossed ground outside. The structure is dried and re-read, and the rebuild waits until the readings and the roof both allow it.

Often needed alongside

  • Emergency Water Extraction

Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.

  • Structural Drying & Dehumidification

Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.

  • Sewage & Contaminated Water Cleanup

Sewage and black-water losses are contained, the materials the water touched are removed and disposed of, hard surfaces are disinfected, and the space is dried to a reading.

Frequently asked questions

The stain is at the bottom of the wall but the leak was at the roof. Why?

Because in a balloon-framed house the stud bays run unbroken from the sill to the attic, with nothing to stop water part way. It falls the full height inside the wall and shows where it finally pools. The bay is opened at the bottom and followed upward with a meter until dry framing is found, which is often several floors up.

What is in these wall cavities and does it come out?

Older walls here frequently hold loose fill rather than batts, and it comes out where it is wet. Loose material packs against the studs, holds water and cannot be dried in place or reliably read through. Once it is removed the bay is open to moving air, the studs are read directly, and new insulation goes in after the framing holds.

How much of a wall has to be opened to dry a bay?

Enough to reach the full wet height, which is decided by meter rather than by eye. Opening at intervals up the bay is common: a cut low, a cut at the wet line found above, and so on until the readings come back dry. Opening only at the stain leaves the upper part of the bay wet and closed.
