24/7 Emergency
Sewage & Contaminated Water Cleanup in Glenwood, IL
Sewage and black-water losses are contained, the materials the water touched are removed and disposed of, hard surfaces are disinfected, and the space is dried to a reading. The affected area is sealed off from the rest of the house. Porous materials the water reached come out and are bagged, with drywall cut to a margin above the visible line; hard surfaces are cleaned and disinfected. The space is then dried and read, and the containment comes down only when cleaning and drying are both finished.
No obligation: the assessment comes before any scope
Often needed alongside
- Emergency Water Extraction
Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
- Mold Remediation
Growth and the material it grew into come out under containment, what remains is cleaned, and the assembly is dried and read before anything closes it in.
Frequently asked questions
Why were these converted?
To stop the street's sewer backing up into basements. Disconnecting everything below grade from the main and lifting it up to a discharge point above means the sewer cannot come back down the same route. It solved that problem completely and created a dependence on a pump.
What happens when that pump stops?
Nothing below grade drains at all. The floor drain, the laundry and any basement fixture are all feeding a pit that is now filling, and there is no overflow route. A power cut during the same storm that is producing the water is the situation these systems are least able to handle.
What should be checked on an old conversion?
The pump's age, the check valve, and whether there is any backup. Many of these installations are original, which puts the equipment well past its service life. It is also worth knowing exactly what is connected to the pit, since that decides what stops working when it fails.
