24/7 Emergency
24/7 Emergency Water Extraction in Cicero, IL
Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows. Free water is pumped and extracted first, from hard floors and out of carpet and pad, before it climbs further into drywall and subfloor. The wet edge is metered and marked while the water is fresh, and drying equipment goes in the same day, because extraction is where the size of the job is decided.

Frequently asked questions
Can plaster be dried in place, or does it come out?
It usually stays. Plaster on wood lath tolerates water far better than paper-faced board and will come back if it is not allowed to stay wet for weeks. What has to happen is access: base, casings and sometimes a small opening low on the wall so air can reach the lath and the masonry behind it. Bulging or soft areas are the exception.
What decides how fast a winter split line dries out?
Less time than the same loss in spring, because the heating system is already drying the indoor air. A wall caught within a day or so of the split commonly reads down inside a week. What stretches it is water that went into the floor structure or down into a finished basement, since those have no help from the heat above.
Why is the wood base being pulled off an undamaged wall?
Because it is the only way to reach the bottom of the plaster and the masonry behind it without cutting the wall open. Old base is thick, tight to the floor and holds water against the plaster edge. Taken off carefully it goes back on afterward, which is the cheaper outcome than opening and patching the wall itself.
