Storm & Flood Damage Recovery in Chicago Heights, IL
The opening is closed, the water is extracted, materials floodwater touched come out, and the structure is dried and rebuilt in that order. The opening is closed first, with tarps or board-up, so the building stops taking on water. Floodwater is extracted, and the porous materials it touched come out rather than dry, since it crossed ground outside. The structure is dried and re-read, and the rebuild waits until the readings and the roof both allow it.

Often needed alongside
- Emergency Water Extraction
Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
- Sewage & Contaminated Water Cleanup
Sewage and black-water losses are contained, the materials the water touched are removed and disposed of, hard surfaces are disinfected, and the space is dried to a reading.
Frequently asked questions
Water came up at the floor drain. Is that handled differently?
Yes, because of what is in it rather than how much. Water that backs up from a drain is treated as contaminated, so porous material that it touched is removed rather than dried: pad, the bottom of drywall, and anything pressed board. The slab is cleaned and then dried, and the drying readings only start to matter once the removal is finished.
Why does the water spread from the middle of the room?
Because it entered at the low point in the slab instead of at a wall. A drain backup rises where the floor is lowest and runs outward from there, which puts the wet edge in the middle of the room and the wall bases wet on every side. The extent is mapped from the drain outward, not from the perimeter in.
Do the basement walls have to be opened after a floor loss?
The bottom of any framed partition standing on the slab does. Those walls sit directly in the water and wick it upward behind the drywall where no room air reaches, so a low cut opens the cavity and lets the plate be read. Masonry foundation walls that were not touched above the waterline are usually left and simply read at the base.
