After the drying
Mold Inspection & Testing in Idaho Falls, ID
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches. An inspection after a water loss confirms whether the assembly that got wet is dry now and whether growth started while it was not. Readings are taken in the material, cavities are opened where the readings point, and the result is a written scope of what is dry, what is not, and what has to be corrected for the repair to hold.

On this site, inspection is the last check of a water job rather than the start of a separate one. Most people reach this page because something was wet, was dried, and a smell or a stain came back. The inspection answers whether the material is dry now and whether anything grew while it was not. Nothing here is medical advice; questions about health are for a clinician.
Often needed alongside
- Mold Remediation
Growth and the material it grew into come out under containment, what remains is cleaned, and the assembly is dried and read before anything closes it in.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
Frequently asked questions
The leak happened in January but nothing showed until March. How?
Because it froze. Water escaping into a crawl space at well below freezing does not run anywhere; it builds up as ice on the ground and against the joists. The pressure drop may be noticed at the time or not at all, and the wet floor appears only when the space warms enough for the ice to melt.
What is the scope once the ice has gone?
Larger than a fresh leak of the same size. Ice sitting against the underside of the floor feeds the subfloor slowly for weeks, so the decking and joists are wet through rather than surface wet. They are read with pins along the whole affected run, and insulation between the joists comes out before anything is dried.
Should the crawl vents be closed in winter?
It is worth asking about, though it is a building decision rather than a drying one. A space left open to the outside air runs at outdoor temperature all winter, which is what put the line at risk. Closing or insulating changes that, and the crawl is already open while the work is being done.
