Mold Removal & Remediation in Maxeys, GA

Growth and the material it grew into come out under containment, what remains is cleaned, and the assembly is dried and read before anything closes it in. The area is sealed and put under negative air, affected porous material comes out, and what remains is cleaned and treated. The assembly is then dried and read to the same standard as any water loss before it is closed, because remediation over a still-wet assembly puts the same growth back behind new drywall.

Remediation here is the tail of a water job: growth is what an unfinished drying leaves behind, and removing it without finishing the drying puts it back. The contractor establishes how far the growth extends and what moisture is still feeding it, removes what grew, and dries and reads the assembly before it is closed. The service note below covers the sequence in this city.

Often needed alongside

  • Mold Inspection & Testing

An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.

  • Structural Drying & Dehumidification

Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.

Frequently asked questions

Do lightning systems cause leaks?

The fastenings can. Rods and cable clips are fixed through the covering at intervals along the ridge and down the roof, each one sealed at the time. Thirty years later those seals have gone, and a roof that is otherwise sound has a row of small penetrations along its highest lines.

Should the system be removed?

Not on a rural property in this climate, where the hazard is real. The better answer is having it inspected properly, which covers the fastenings and the grounding together. A system that has been re-roofed around, with cable left loose and connections broken, is not protecting anything anyway.

What should happen when the roof is replaced?

The system comes off and goes back on with new fastenings and new seals, by somebody who works on them. What frequently happens instead is that the roofer works around it, which leaves the old penetrations in place under new covering and the cable no longer properly attached.

These questions come from the Maxeys page.
