Why does the deck matter if the covering is new?
Because the covering is not the only thing between the weather and the house. Anything that gets past it lands on the deck, and a deck that has been fixed through three or four times has a great many old holes in it, none of which were filled when the roof was redone.
Does that mean the deck should be replaced?
