Storm & Flood Damage Recovery in Shelton, CT
The opening is closed, the water is extracted, materials floodwater touched come out, and the structure is dried and rebuilt in that order. The opening is closed first, with tarps or board-up, so the building stops taking on water. Floodwater is extracted, and the porous materials it touched come out rather than dry, since it crossed ground outside. The structure is dried and re-read, and the rebuild waits until the readings and the roof both allow it.

Often needed alongside
- Emergency Water Extraction
Standing water is pumped and extracted around the clock, before it climbs the walls and soaks the subfloor. Same-day response where coverage allows.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
- Sewage & Contaminated Water Cleanup
Sewage and black-water losses are contained, the materials the water touched are removed and disposed of, hard surfaces are disinfected, and the space is dried to a reading.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the ceiling being opened rather than dried from above?
Because there is nothing above it. A vaulted ceiling is board fixed to the underside of the rafters with insulation packed into the bay, so there is no attic to get into and no way to reach the wet material except from the room. The opening follows the bay rather than the stain, which marks the low end.
Does the insulation in the bay come out?
Along the wet run, yes. Batt in a closed rafter bay holds water directly against the roof deck above and the board below, and it cannot be dried where it sits. It is pulled through the opening, the deck and rafters are read with pins, and new insulation goes back only once those numbers hold.
The next room has a normal ceiling and is dry. Is it finished?
It gets read before that is assumed. Where a vaulted bay meets a flat-ceilinged room the water often crosses into the attic over it and spreads across the insulation there, showing nothing from below for days. The attic is checked as a matter of course, because it is far cheaper than being called back to it.
