After the drying
Mold Inspection & Testing in Davis, CA
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches. An inspection after a water loss confirms whether the assembly that got wet is dry now and whether growth started while it was not. Readings are taken in the material, cavities are opened where the readings point, and the result is a written scope of what is dry, what is not, and what has to be corrected for the repair to hold.

On this site, inspection is the last check of a water job rather than the start of a separate one. Most people reach this page because something was wet, was dried, and a smell or a stain came back. The inspection answers whether the material is dry now and whether anything grew while it was not. Nothing here is medical advice; questions about health are for a clinician.
Often needed alongside
- Mold Remediation
Growth and the material it grew into come out under containment, what remains is cleaned, and the assembly is dried and read before anything closes it in.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
Frequently asked questions
The meter says the slab is damp. Is that from the leak?
Not necessarily, and that is the whole difficulty here. A slab poured without a sheet under it takes moisture from the ground permanently, so it reads damp in a house that has never had a loss. The useful measurement is a comparison: readings in the wet area against readings in an untouched room, taken the same day.
Is a July loss really a different job from a January one?
Yes, by a factor of two or more. In July the outside air is hot and dry enough to be used directly and the ground under the slab is at its lowest moisture of the year. In January the air is saturated, the ground is wet, and the concrete has a supply from below that the equipment cannot switch off.
What happens to flooring that was glued to the slab?
It usually comes up along the wet run. Adhesive on a slab with no barrier is working against ground moisture already, and a loss is often what finally releases it. Once it is off, the concrete is dried and tested, and any new covering is chosen on the assumption that the slab will keep giving moisture up.
