Contained removal
Mold Removal & Remediation in Virginia Beach, VA
Growth and the material it grew into come out under containment, what remains is cleaned, and the assembly is dried and read before anything closes it in. The area is sealed and put under negative air, affected porous material comes out, and what remains is cleaned and treated. The assembly is then dried and read to the same standard as any water loss before it is closed, because remediation over a still-wet assembly puts the same growth back behind new drywall.
No obligation: the assessment comes before any scope
Remediation here is the tail of a water job: growth is what an unfinished drying leaves behind, and removing it without finishing the drying puts it back. The contractor establishes how far the growth extends and what moisture is still feeding it, removes what grew, and dries and reads the assembly before it is closed. The service note below covers the sequence in this city.
Often needed alongside
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the crawl space stay wet after the leak was fixed?
Because the water table here is close to the surface and the crawl was damp before the leak. Once a leak adds to it, the contractor removes the soaked insulation, seals and dehumidifies the crawl, and reads the joists and subfloor from below until they reach the dry standard. Ventilation alone does not do it in summer.
How long does drying take in July compared with October?
Days longer in July. The summer air off the water is close to saturated, so the drying has to be sealed and the dehumidifiers carry the load. In October the outdoor air has room for moisture and the same equipment reaches the readings faster. The contractor sizes the equipment to the season, not the square footage alone.
Does a slab floor come up after a flood in a sandy-ground house?
The finish floor usually does, over the wet area. Water on sandy ground gets under a slab and the concrete wicks it up for days, and the flooring above hides that. The contractor meters the slab, lifts the floor where it reads wet, dries the concrete with mats and a sealed run, and the floor goes back on a dry reading.
