Contained removal
Mold Removal & Remediation in Prentiss, MS
Growth and the material it grew into come out under containment, what remains is cleaned, and the assembly is dried and read before anything closes it in. The area is sealed and put under negative air, affected porous material comes out, and what remains is cleaned and treated. The assembly is then dried and read to the same standard as any water loss before it is closed, because remediation over a still-wet assembly puts the same growth back behind new drywall.
Independent local crews · scoped at the property
Remediation here is the tail of a water job: growth is what an unfinished drying leaves behind, and removing it without finishing the drying puts it back. The contractor establishes how far the growth extends and what moisture is still feeding it, removes what grew, and dries and reads the assembly before it is closed. The service note below covers the sequence in this city.
Often needed alongside
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
Frequently asked questions
Is an open underfloor better or worse than a closed one?
Better for drying and worse for wetting, and here the wetting wins. Air moves freely, so nothing stays humid the way a closed crawl does. But driven rain reaches the framing directly in every storm, and in a sixty-inch climate that is a great deal of water landing on structure.
What gets damaged that would not otherwise?
Insulation first, and then the ductwork if it runs under there. Batt insulation between the joists takes the driven rain, sags out of position and stops working, and it holds moisture against the floor above. Anything paper-faced or ducted under an open floor here has a short life.
Would closing it in help?
Only if it is done properly, with a ground cover and vents, and it changes the space into something that has to be managed. Closing an open underfloor without a ground cover replaces driven rain with trapped humidity, which is worse. The simpler improvement is usually a skirt on the weather side alone.
