After the drying
Mold Inspection & Testing in Haverhill, MA
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches. An inspection after a water loss confirms whether the assembly that got wet is dry now and whether growth started while it was not. Readings are taken in the material, cavities are opened where the readings point, and the result is a written scope of what is dry, what is not, and what has to be corrected for the repair to hold.
Independent local crews · scoped at the property
On this site, inspection is the last check of a water job rather than the start of a separate one. Most people reach this page because something was wet, was dried, and a smell or a stain came back. The inspection answers whether the material is dry now and whether anything grew while it was not. Nothing here is medical advice; questions about health are for a clinician.
Often needed alongside
- Mold Remediation
Growth and the material it grew into come out under containment, what remains is cleaned, and the assembly is dried and read before anything closes it in.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
Frequently asked questions
Why is October a bad month to start a drying job here?
Because of what follows it. It is the wettest month at nearly five inches, and the weeks after it get colder rather than warmer, so there is no warm stretch to help finish. Once the heating season is properly running the dry indoor air does help, but the gap in between is the slowest part of the year to dry a building.
Does old timber dry differently from modern framing?
It does. Dense old growth stock absorbs water more slowly and releases it more slowly too, so it can read wet for days after modern framing in the same room has finished. It also tends to survive better. The readings are taken in the timber itself rather than at the surface, and equipment stays until those numbers hold.
A leak on the top floor reached the cellar. What gets opened?
The wet path through each floor, not just the ends of it. In a stacked three-family building water runs down the bays and along the framing at every level, wetting ceilings and floors in between without necessarily marking them. Each floor is read and the bays that are wet are opened, so nothing damp is closed up in the middle.
