Mold Removal & Remediation in Shawnee, KS
Growth and the material it grew into come out under containment, what remains is cleaned, and the assembly is dried and read before anything closes it in. The area is sealed and put under negative air, affected porous material comes out, and what remains is cleaned and treated. The assembly is then dried and read to the same standard as any water loss before it is closed, because remediation over a still-wet assembly puts the same growth back behind new drywall.

Remediation here is the tail of a water job: growth is what an unfinished drying leaves behind, and removing it without finishing the drying puts it back. The contractor establishes how far the growth extends and what moisture is still feeding it, removes what grew, and dries and reads the assembly before it is closed. The service note below covers the sequence in this city.
Often needed alongside
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
Frequently asked questions
Where does a direct-vent fireplace go through the wall?
Straight out behind the unit, usually low down. There is no chimney: the appliance takes its air and discharges through one sleeve in the outside wall, and because the firebox sits near the floor that penetration is often only a foot or two above the ground outside.
Why does that position matter?
Because it is the wettest part of the wall. Splash from the roof, snow piled against the building and ground that is saturated in spring are all at that level, so an opening there is exposed to water in a way one higher up would not be. A seal that has aged is admitting it into the wall.
Can the vent be looked at without moving the fireplace?
Only the outside of it. The appliance sits against the opening, so the inside of the sleeve cannot be seen until the unit comes out, and that is the awkward part of these. It is usually done when the wall is being opened anyway rather than as a check on its own.
