Contained removal
Mold Removal & Remediation in Overland Park, KS
Growth and the material it grew into come out under containment, what remains is cleaned, and the assembly is dried and read before anything closes it in. The area is sealed and put under negative air, affected porous material comes out, and what remains is cleaned and treated. The assembly is then dried and read to the same standard as any water loss before it is closed, because remediation over a still-wet assembly puts the same growth back behind new drywall.
No obligation: the assessment comes before any scope
Remediation here is the tail of a water job: growth is what an unfinished drying leaves behind, and removing it without finishing the drying puts it back. The contractor establishes how far the growth extends and what moisture is still feeding it, removes what grew, and dries and reads the assembly before it is closed. The service note below covers the sequence in this city.
Often needed alongside
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
Frequently asked questions
Why did water come through the ceiling in the hall?
Because there is an opening there rather than a ceiling. The fan sits in a large hole between the upper hall and the attic, closed only by louvers, so anything that reaches the attic floor at that point comes straight down into the house instead of spreading through insulation first.
Does this work the other way in winter?
It does, and it is the less obvious half. Warm moist air from the house rises through the same opening into a cold attic, where it condenses on the underside of the roof. A house with damp sheathing and no leak anywhere usually has an unsealed opening like this somewhere.
What is done about it during the work?
It is closed off properly while the drying runs, because otherwise the attic and the house are one space. Whether it is sealed permanently afterward is a separate conversation, but leaving a large open hole between a wet attic and a dry house makes the equipment fight itself.
