Contained removal
Mold Removal & Remediation in Naperville, IL
Growth and the material it grew into come out under containment, what remains is cleaned, and the assembly is dried and read before anything closes it in. The area is sealed and put under negative air, affected porous material comes out, and what remains is cleaned and treated. The assembly is then dried and read to the same standard as any water loss before it is closed, because remediation over a still-wet assembly puts the same growth back behind new drywall.

Remediation here is the tail of a water job: growth is what an unfinished drying leaves behind, and removing it without finishing the drying puts it back. The contractor establishes how far the growth extends and what moisture is still feeding it, removes what grew, and dries and reads the assembly before it is closed. The service note below covers the sequence in this city.
Often needed alongside
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the lowest level need more equipment than the room the water came from?
Because that is where the water ended up. A stack carries it down between the studs with very little staying behind, so the upper rooms may need a cut and a fan while the lower level needs the pad out, the board cut and several machines running. The size of the scope follows gravity rather than the location of the failed fitting.
Should a finished lower level be expected to take days or weeks?
Usually seven to twelve days. A below-grade slab is cool, so it releases moisture slowly, and the walls are drywall on studs against poured concrete, which holds a damp cavity. In winter the furnace helps considerably; in a wet spring it does not, and the same room can take half again as long.
When is basement drywall cut rather than dried?
When it was standing in water, when the water was not clean, or when there is insulation behind it. Board that only took splash and has an empty cavity behind it will often dry in place with the base off. Anything with wet batt against it is opened, because the insulation has to come out whatever the board is doing.
