Contained removal
Mold Removal & Remediation in Burbank, CA
Growth and the material it grew into come out under containment, what remains is cleaned, and the assembly is dried and read before anything closes it in. The area is sealed and put under negative air, affected porous material comes out, and what remains is cleaned and treated. The assembly is then dried and read to the same standard as any water loss before it is closed, because remediation over a still-wet assembly puts the same growth back behind new drywall.
Quoted on site by the contractor who visits
Remediation here is the tail of a water job: growth is what an unfinished drying leaves behind, and removing it without finishing the drying puts it back. The contractor establishes how far the growth extends and what moisture is still feeding it, removes what grew, and dries and reads the assembly before it is closed. The service note below covers the sequence in this city.
Often needed alongside
- Mold Inspection & Testing
An independent assessor confirms whether the assembly that got wet is actually dry, whether growth started while it was not, and how far it reaches.
- Structural Drying & Dehumidification
Sealed air movers and dehumidifiers bring framing, subfloor and drywall back to a measured dry standard, with daily readings logged from inside the material.
Frequently asked questions
What is the space under the back porch?
A partial cellar, dug out when the house was built to give somewhere for the furnace and for storage. It is not a basement in any finished sense: the walls are often bare earth or unlined concrete and there is rarely any drainage in it.
Why does the cellar fill?
Because it is the lowest point on the lot and nothing was built to take water out of it. In a wet February the ground water rises into it and surface water finds its way down the stair, and there is no drain and usually no pump.
Does it matter if nothing is stored there?
It does, because of what is kept there. The furnace, the water heater and frequently the electrical panel are all down in that space, so a cellar that seems unimportant holds the equipment the whole house depends on, standing in whatever has collected.
